About
I’m a photographer, location scout, dad, cyclist, and lover of the outdoors. I’m particularly passionate about using photography to connect people, to strengthen community, and to support mental and physical health.
As a location scout and manager I’ve worked with some of the most respected talents in the creative world and have long-standing relationships with many of them. In 2022/3 I spent almost 6 months in Colombia as the location scout for the recently released “Paddington In Peru” - directed by the amazing Dougal Wilson. On my return I also had a period documenting behind the scenes with the UK crew, both in the studio and on location.
From the mid-2000s I ran the location companies Amazing Space and Location Partnership until 2018, when I went freelance again with my location management work.
I continue to work all round the UK, but in 2020 opened a new venture to make the most of the locations on my doorstep in the South West of England - based in Dorset and covering all surrounding counties.
My photographic work won awards from the London Photographic Association and was displayed at the Association of Photographers gallery as part of their Open Awards. In 2023 one of my photos was selected for the British Journal of Photography’s “Portrait of Humanity” book, and in 2024 two of my portraits made it onto the long-list for the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize.
During lockdown in 2020 I set up Bridport Lockdown - a community project bringing together images and stories to document my home town during and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic. This has become a growing collection of over 2,500 images sent in by more than 300 local people and will become part of a COVID-19 archive at both Bridport Museum and Dorset History Centre.
Work with a local mental health charity in 2022, and a renewed love of portrait photography has led to a series of long-term projects exploring connection and community.
During the summer of 2024, as part of ongoing work with the creative writing charity The Bank of Dreams & Nightmares, I led a 6 week photography project at a local school where 2 years of pupils learnt how to document and tell the stories of their lives through photography.
